Black Hat

Tibetan Black Hat Sect Feng Shui is deeply mystical in its origin and practice. It has profound understanding of the energy impact of "chi" on humans, their spirit, and their shelter. Unlike other schools of Feng Shui, this intuitive school mixes traditional Chinese Feng Shui with the arcane practices of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism and the even older mystery rituals of Tibetan Bon (the indigenous religion of Tibet before Buddhism).

Also, this school of Feng Shui has a living master, in Professor Thomas Lin Yun. Thanks to Lin, a Chinese expatriate trained from childhood by Tibetan monks in the secrets of Feng Shui, this ancient practice is now widely available to everyone in the West. What was once a royal secret solely reserved for the Emperor and his favorites, is now a popular practice in the Americas and Western Europe.

Professor Thomas Lin Yun was born and raised in Beijing, China, and began his study of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism at age six at Yong-He Palace under the tutelage of a Tibetan Lama master. At seventeen, Lin left mainland China for Taiwan and continued his studies with another Lama of the same order. After years of meditation and study with other masters, Lin achieved profound spiritual insight and abilities. Using transcendental solutions through Feng Shui, Lin was able to solve peoples problems around the world. These people include the rich and famous, as well as ordinary citizens and troubled children.

As a distinguished scholar, philosopher, and foremost world authority on Feng Shui, Professor Lin lectures extensively at the invitation of academic institutions and religious communities all around the globe. His audiences include the Library of Congress, the American Institute of Architects, the United Nations, and leading universities such as Yale, Harvard, Princeton, M.I.T., UCLA, U.C. Berkeley, Stanford, Cornell, Duke, Oxford, and John Hopkins University. Lin is currently an Adjunct Professor at San Diego State University, and he was formerly a lecturer for the Yale-in-China program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Lin has been interviewed by CBS, NBC, ABC, and the BBC, as well as leading newspapers and magazines throughout the world.

Through the modernized principles taught by Master Lin, a Feng Shui practitioner can redirect the vital life-force energy of "chi" in the environment. Using physical adjustments and other subtle means, such as intention and visualization, the result can achieve a high level of harmony and happiness. With meditation, a Feng Shui consultant achieves a still mind to focus on the energies of a home or office. Then an expert diagnosis can be made for enhancement thus "curing" areas which can bring harm or misfortune to the inhabitants.

"In its journey to the West, Black Hat Feng Shui has absorbed new customs and inventions today," Lin notes. "Its modern cures include lights, electricity, and heavy machinery. Rum has replaced the strong rice wine used in ritual mixtures. And the placement of microwave ovens and computers is given serious thought. But despite this transformation, the aim of Feng Shui remains exactly the same as it was thousands of years ago: the pursuit and creation of a more comfortable and harmonious place to live and work." In 1986, Professor Lin founded the Yun Lin Temple in Berkeley, California. It is the first reformist Black Hat Sect Tantric Buddhist temple in the West.
